So, I successfully completed my first marathon in Gaborone, Botswana on March 21st, 2015. It was a lot of fun and reaffirmed my passion for running. Although, my first 10k was challenging, exiting and motivational, I feel like something was missing. There was no cause behind my running, no purpose other than to have fun and test my capabilities. Over the years, I have seen people running for cancer, for AIDS, mental health, you name it. They ran for what they believed in and cared about. That's something that I want to do in the future. I believe I would be more fulfilled knowing that every kilometer I ran was in honor of someone else or in support of something meaningful. Whether it is to raise money, bring awareness, protest, or some similar cause that has meaning beyond competing for a gold medal, I will be running again for a purpose beyond myself.
